Since the release of Borderlands 2, two DLCs were released already, both of them providing the game with enormous and awesome expansions – more story, more maps, more enemies and more shootin’n'lootin’. Besides that, the game also brought one more character besides the 4 “main” ones, the Mechromancer, with her unique skills and personality, and that was really awesome as well.

But is it possible that the Mechromancer is not the last available playable character in the game? This tweet from Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, instantly made my interest-radar beep loudly:

We have then contacted 2K Games regarding this matter. On their reply, they’ve explained: “The necessary systems are in place for us to create additional playable characters, however the decision to make use of those systems has always relied on the community’s response to the Mechromancer.” Even though this isn’t an exact confirmation, it makes it clear that the possibility of additional characters is there. The possibility of a new character, together with the possibility of other extra content beyond the 2 planned upcoming DLC’s, is reinforced with this statement: “2K and Gearbox have every intention to support Borderlands 2 with downloadable content through 2013 and beyond!” How cool is that?

It may be still to early to be sure of anything, but this does sound like amazing news! Meanwhile, how about us Vault Hunters get our guns together for some adventuring in Captain Scarlett’s and Mr. Torgue’s DLCs?
