Most sites (including ours) have already covered the top ten games of 2012. So the next logical step to follow-up looking backwards is to shift gears and start looking ahead. So without further ado, here are 13 games that you should look out for in 2013. Get your wallets ready…
NOTE: This list is NOT in order of anticipation. In addition, all of these games that are currently slated for 2013 are subject to change
13 – The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
This game, in my opinion, will either be one of the greatest hits or most tragic misses of 2013. TWD is a cherished property and Telltale’s downloadable titles resonated with gamers due to the emotional chords it hit. However, this is an FPS survival game that is done by Activision (published), although that shouldn’t be a damning factor in and of itself. They are bringing on Daryl as a voice actor and it is set to try and focus on the feel of TWD. We should all look forward to this one, for better or for worse…
12 – Injustice: Gods Amonng Us
The DC movies are back in full effect. And the Mortal Kombat team has had their own resurgence. So the meeting of these two worlds is something worth looking out for. The MK team is taking on the DC universe in I: GAU. Expect chaotic and flashy combat, a diverse superhero roster and some one of a kind legendary face offs. It would be an injustice to forget about this game.
11 – Remember Me
This one time Sony exclusive was swooped up by Capcom and will be hitting consoles in 2013. This title focuses on memories, in particular on an assassin of the mind, so to speak, who can rip out your memories. And the combat will feature customizable combos for those seeking a more personal feel to their offensive arsenal. This is shaping up to be a title to remember.
10 – Watch Dogs
We don’t know an awful lot about Watch Dogs as of today. What we do know, however, is more than enough to get it on our radar. This unique title focuses on the issues of technology, information dangers and the vulnerability of the digital age. It looks like Ubisoft is about to stike gold again.
9 – Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Patriots
To be fair, any Tom Clancy game would have made it on this list as those games are always a big deal. And Rainbow Six is easily one of the most cherished FPS franchises on the market. This sequel tries to push social boundaries and tackle the issues of terrorism, as well as the moral sliding scale of what is right and wrong when it comes to stopping terrorist attacks. If the story can achieve it’s goal, we may have 2013′s GOTY.
8 – The Last of Us
If any studio has become synoymous with Sony, it is Naughty Dog. So it should come to little to no surprise that their next game is already on a lot of gamers’ radars. And although the post-apocalyptic world concept has been done before, the focus on the relationship between the two survivors, as well as the technical polish already shown, gives any gamer a good reason to have their PS3 ready in 2013.
7 – Beyond: Two Souls
The majority of games this generation don’t strike out to gamers on an emotional level. The average aim of titles are to reach a certain graphical pinnacle or to sport a quality competetive experience. Enter in Beyond: Two Souls, spiritual successor to Heavy Rain, which is set to put players into an emotional role unlike anything they have every played before. The unique direction of this game – as well as the quality it appears to be made with – makes it worthy for a 2013 look out.
6 – Dead Island: Riptide
There has been a lot of confusion regarding this title – was it an expansion, DLC, a full sequel, etc. However, it is a full-on sequel headed for 2013 that will be bringing the Banoi survivors to a brand new region and Riptide will bring in a fresh new face to help them survive the vicious hordes. The same borderlands + dead rising + left 4 dead formula looks to remain in tact and you will be able to play with characters of any level thanks to a scaled brand of difficulty regarding enemy levels.
5 – Gears of War: Judgment
GEoW: J reminds me of Halo 4, in a way. A new developer is on board (although in this case, not in 100% control) and the time tested fomula for success is being altered in several areas (changes to control scheme, no active reload bonus damage and more). However, the new Overrun mode should offer gear heads a fresh take on the multiplayer they have loved for over 5 years now and the coverage of the Emergence Day era should give the hardcore faithful a better understanding of Sera’s history.
4 – Tomb Raider
Lara Croft is one of the most iconic characters in all of gaming. However, her game series “Tomb Raider” was showing severe signs of stagnation. So in a wise move, the property has been rebooted and will focus on a fresh Lara Croft when she first is out into the harsh world and forced to survive unimaginable circumstances. This title has gottena huge amount of buzz already and should make big waves come next year.
3 – Aliens: Colonial Marines
Aliens is one of those properties that is almost holy to the average gamer. So it is good to see that Gearbox is giving this title the tender loving care that it deserves. The graphics look great, the multiplayer sounds intense (similar to a left 4 dead scenario pitting those who need to survive against those who hunt) and the co-op mode should shape up to be an epic experience.
2 – Dead Space 3
The Dead Space series has been known as a resurgence in solo survival horror. However, the formula is being shaken up and in DS3 you will be able to play the entire campaign in co-op, as well as be able to customize weapons to your specifications. Although to me this sounds more like Army of Two: Bros in Space than a Dead Space game, it still looks like it will be a great game.
1 – Bioshock Infinite
Few properties have the swagger that Bioshock has. That series has etched itself into the top series of this generation by breaking FPS conventions and mixing a deeply philosophical story, unique powers and an eerie environment to immerse players in. This junior entry in the series takes to the skies and puts the player in a floating renegade U.S. city stuck in a state of chaos. Expect new powers, new enemies and the same tried and true gameplay.

I stopped skimming when I saw The Last of Us at the #8 spot. You lost.
Actually he states pretty clearly this list is in no particular order. If you had read that, you probably wouldn’t have left such a douchey comment. You, in fact, “lost” if anybody did.
Well, I think Orion’s comment handles that for me =)
Once again, they aren’t in ORDER of anticipation, that was too hard to determine.
